Biography: First trained in Florence, Biagio d’Antonio admired the work of Fra Filippo Lippi. He then moved to Faenza, where was established as painter by 1476 and built a large workshop. A collaboration with Domenico Ghilandaio influenced Biagio’s compositions and facial structures. He also admired Flemish and German paintings and favored the bright, floral, and detailed paintings of those schools. Biagio also painted religious and mythological scenes.
